Privacy policy

Last updated 30 August 2026

Moments collects no data about you. Not a reduced amount, not an anonymised amount. None. This page explains why that is a structural fact about the app rather than a promise you have to take on faith.

What we collect

Nothing. Moments has no account system, no sign-in, no analytics SDK, no advertising identifier, no crash reporter and no telemetry. The application binary contains no networking code at all, so there is no mechanism by which information about you could be sent anywhere, whether or not we wanted it.

Our App Store privacy label reads Data Not Collected in every category, and it is accurate.

Your video and audio

Your footage is written to Moments’ own storage area on your iPhone and stays there. It is never uploaded, never copied to a server and never seen by us.

Video leaves your phone only when you deliberately send it, using the standard iOS share sheet or by saving to Photos. At that point your video is governed by whatever you sent it to, and by Apple’s handling of Photos, and no longer by this policy.

The analysis

Moments looks at what you filmed in order to decide how to cut it. It scores framing, detects faces, measures motion, works out when the camera settled, and detects when speech is present so that it can duck the music instead of talking over you.

All of this runs on your device, on Apple’s Vision and Sound Analysis frameworks, using the Neural Engine in your phone. No frame and no audio sample is transmitted. Face detection means locating a face in the picture; Moments does not recognise, identify or remember anyone.

Permissions we ask for

Purchases

Moments Pro is a one-time purchase handled entirely by Apple’s App Store. We never see your name, your payment details or your Apple Account. Your entitlement is read from the transaction Apple stores against your account, which is also why it restores on a new phone without us holding anything.

Children

Moments is rated 4+ and is safe for any age. Since we collect no data, we collect no data from children either.

Changes

If a future version of Moments ever adds a feature that genuinely needs the network, we will say so here and in the release notes before it ships, and it will be something you switch on rather than something that arrives switched on.
